1946 Omaha Knights at St. Paul Saints rare ticket - Gordie Howe 2 goals
Original ticket stub from a game played Jan 6, 1946, Omaha Knights at St. Paul Saints.
As a 17 year old future star, Gordie Howe played one season
for the 45-46 Omaha Knights in the USHL. As Omaha newspaper accounts show (see below) "Gordon" scored two
goals in the Knights 3-1 road victory at the St. Paul Auditorium. Great photo of Howe in the article.
Howe played in 51 games recording 22 goals and adding 26 assists, good enough for 3rd place in scoring.
Looking at the Knights roster, he was the youngest player on the team.
Although the year is not printed on the tickets, I was able to confirm
by checking a perpetual calendar for the month and day in January of 1946.
Only three possibilities: 1935, 1946, and 1957
The St. Paul Saints did not play on January 6 in 1935.
The Saints did not even have a team in 1957.
The Howe ticket measures 1-3/4 x 1-1/2 and is in good condition with some creasing, and very light
scrapbook glue on the back.
Research below IS NOT included with the sale of the ticket.
** In the team photo, Gordie Howe is the second player from the left in the back row of five players **
