Robert Farrington Elwell antique print depicting a cowboy on horseback surprised by a grizzly bear.
After some research, this appears to be unnamed and difficult to find.
We have always called it "Cowboy Confronting Grizzly."
Originally framed, but only the mat survives now.
Apparently it was glued to the mat and also supported with some old masking tape.
The thin right and left white borders are still noticeable, but the top and bottom had been trimmed for framing.
The "R. Farrington Elwell" signature survives (see our scan below).

After years and years of seeing this image on the wall, no one in our family ever noticed the "bear tear" as we now refer to it.
The back of the print has some old tape where it was repaired before the framing.
This tear is very difficult to notice, even without the reflection of the original glass.
I suppose it could be professionally restored, most likely a minor repair by those in the business.
This image still displays great in the original mat which will be included when shipped.
The print measures 23 x 15.5 as is.
