Authentic issue of the Pittsburgh Evening Chronicle, April 15, 1865
with updated reports of the Lincoln assassination throughout this complete 4 page issue.
This is the original and complete newspaper.
There is even an erroneously report that Sec of State Seward had been killed.
This paper was published in the evening of Lincoln's passing.
There is also an amazing list of Andersonville Prisoners (from Pennsylvania) on the front page.
Also contains other national and local news as well as the usual ads.
Interesting to note Lincoln "mourning badges" are already being sold less than 12 hours after his death. (See ad).
Also a military pension ad (See ad).
I have photo'd many parts of this amazing newspaper so please review over 50 images below.
I can assure NOTHING has been clipped or cut from this original issue.
Overall in good condition considering the age. Some foxing. Minor wrinkling around the borders.
Horizontal and vertical folds.
The newspaper (when opened) measures a huge 39 x 27.
Will be shipped half folded so as not to perpetuate the folds.
