This is an original feature story from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Oct 13, 1941

concerning a Civil War diary kept by Painesville Ohio resident William D. Shepherd, a member of the 7th Ohio Infantry, Company C.

This news story covers Aug to Nov, 1861, including an escape from the Confederates in West Virginia.

The story is attached to an old two-sided scrapbook page mixed in with other items of the day.

Overall in VG condition - the old paper is a little brittle but not too bad.

We did have to trim three of the edges which were quite ragged.

The page measures 16 x 11.

Please note:   The original diary is not for sale.  Available here is only the newspaper account

of the diary in 1941.
