Original c. 1903 class photo with id'd teacher "Nell Porter."
The family lived near Sheakleyville PA, Mercer County.
I have had several other Porter photos, as well as other families related to the Porters in Mercer County PA.
Nell Porter married Harry Lawrence in 1904.
The back of the photo does have the name "Miss Nellie Porter" and "Sheakleyville." printed
lightly in pencil.  Difficult to see unless you tilt toward the light.
The original owner of this photo was most likely one of the school children in the photo,
and has made some humorous pencil notations concerning each child,
as well as teacher Nell Porter.
Some of these include:
"You are a beauty"
"Who are we?  Are we Dagoes"
"I am nice"
"Do I squint"
"Am I black"
"Don't walk on me"
"Is my face dirty"
"Do I frown"
"I am no dago"
"Am I white"
The photo is in good condition with some creases in the lower right corner.
The mount shows some wear and a couple of tears.
The photo itself is not really affected by any of these issues.
Overall measurement is 11 x 9.
