Rare, original 1899 cabinet photo of the Duquesne Greys Military Band at their annual encampment at Expo Park, Conneaut Lake PA.
Posing at the depot dressed in some wild costumes with great expressions. Reminds me of Animal House.
How about the man in front with the carved pumpkin?
My Great-Grandfather was a member of the Duquesne Greys (not the band) and most likely took this photo.
It has been in our family for over 125 years and was originally in an album and handed down to my Grandfather,
who signed on the back with the date of 2/10/59
which is probably the date he removed it from the album. He was a crazy man keeping records.
The Greys arrived in camp at Conneaut Lake on Saturday, August 19, 1899 and stayed for 10 days.
Please review some news clips below about the Greys in camp, which include my Great-Grandfather's name Lt. C.E. McKenry.
The photo is in fair condition with old tape repairs and album remnants on back, however,
the focal point, background spectators, structures, and signs are still in view.
The couple standing behind the horse appear to be depot employees.
All faces are very clear and in focus, much more so than I can exhibit here.
Measuring 9.5 x 7.5.
We have presented several close ups to enjoy.
