Great loving cup trophy from the 1895 Handicap Games track event at Yale, May 4, 1895.

Presented to the winner of the 220 yard hurdles from the Yale Athletic Association (YAA).

We were able to determine from newspaper archives, the winner of this event

was the great Yale athlete "Ernest Hyde Cady."

Please review the various items found while researching.

One is a photo of the Yale track team in the 94 yearbook.

Cady was a member of the Class of 1895 and very well known in the Hartford CT area.

He was the son of Lt. Governor of the State of Connecticut (Ernest Hyde Cady Sr) 1893-1895.

He was also the grandson of the Lt Governor of CT (Ephraim Hyde) 1867-1869.

The cup stands 6" high and approx 8-1/4" wide.

The weight is approx 1 lb 10 oz.

It is in EX condition with the expected surface marks from handling.

There is no corrosion or other issues.

The bottom is marked "Meriden B Company, Quadruple Plate, S - USA."

It is NOT sterling silver.

Here is a list of the research items I accumulated.

These are NOT included with the sale of the trophy.
