Original clipping from "The State" newspaper of Columbia SC, June 9, 1925.

This is a "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" piece depicting the great feat of March 28, 1893 when Clarence Bayne of the Univ of Penn

went 9-9 with 3 homeruns in a 59-1 win over Swarthmore.   Sadly, Bayne died just 3 months later (read obit below).

I had never heard of Bayne so I did want to research this before I listed.  So, yes, this did happen.   Apparently he was a great pitcher

and there was talk of turning pro soon.  The name of Clarence Bayne is still talked about on campus today.  Please review some research below.

The clipping is 8 x 6-1/2 - VG condition - the date of the newspaper was attached on the right border.

Please note:   Buyer receives the clipping ONLY, no research is included.
