Original cabinet photo featuring the 1923 Plainfield (NJ) High School football team
presenting the game ball from their 24-0 defeat of rival North Plainfield. This big game was played on Sat Nov 10, 1923.
We were able to research through the '24 Plainfield yearbook as well as an old newspaper clipping.
As we determined, the cabinet photo is slightly different than the one in the yearbook. The same player is holding the ball but some others
have relocated. In addition, the yearbook photo seems to only include the seniors, or varsity players. The original cabinet photo
has the varsity and lower classman. We have also included for your review only, a circa 1920 postcard of Plainview High School, which
reveals the steps and entrance where the football team has been photographed.
The photo measures 9.5 x 6.5 and is in VG condition. The corners have been cropped perhaps for an old photo album insertion.
