Rare original 1925 photo featuring the newly formed G-2 Intelligence unit based in Pittsburgh PA.

In charge was Colonel Charles C. "Buck" McGovern,

a well known Pittsburgh military man.

He was a veteran of the Spanish American War, the Mexican Border Campaign,

and World War I.

He was also a former Pittsburgh detective, and is remembered for capturing the

Biddle Brothers after their prison escape in 1902.

McGovern is pictured standing front in full uniform with 100+ recruits.

The photo was taken on the steps of the Allegheny County Courthouse in downtown Pittsburgh.

I was able to locate a present day photo for comparison (the Ross Street entrance).

Included with the photo, is the original paper with handwritten notes, which identifies the group,

as well as Col. McGovern, his wife Mary McGovern, daughter Josephine, and his assistant Rose Danahey,

who later became his wife in 1958, four years before Colonel McGovern's death.

Please review the research accumulated from the web.

These items are NOT included with the sale of the photo.

This 9-1/2 x 7-1/2 photo is in VG condition and is a very clear image.

Minor wear around the borders with some minor scuffing at the top.
