Original ticket stub from Milwaukee Braves @ Pittsburgh Prates game, May 31, 1958 at Forbes Field Pittsburgh.
With Warren Spahn pitching, the Braves beat the Pirates 8-3.
Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, and Wes Covington hit back to back to back homeruns in the first inning off pitcher Ronnie Kline.
This was labeled the "Boom Boom Boom" game, back in the day, and was considered a monumental achievement in 1958.
According to the Pittsburgh news account, the feat was accomplished on three consecutive pitches. I don't think this was/is known
to current baseball fans.
Please review some of the research below concerning this game.
We were able to find a photo of the three players, perhaps taken during the 58 season,
as well as a photo of Aaron and Mathews holding three baseballs. Not sure of the individual on the left.
These extra items are NOT included with the sale of the ticket.
This original 1958 Forbes Field ticket is in EX condition and measures 2-5/8 x 1-3/8. Great old Pirate logo.
There are NO creases, stains, writing, or scrapbook remnants. Only minor issue is the ticket taker tear which was common back then.
Perhaps some light smudges on the reverse.
This ticket from First Floor Box 3 was one of the best seats at Forbes Field.
We have photographed the ticket inside the plastic holder and also removed it to show the fine condition.
FYI -- We are also offering a second ticket (side by side to this one) in another listing. Same condition and is Seat No. 4
We unknowingly acquired these tickets at a local auction which included other Pittsburgh Pirate memorabilia.
