Original, rare Penguins/Rangers BW in game action photo from the 1969-70 season.
Terry Sawchuk is in goal for the Rangers during his final season.
He only played 8 games this season, so this could be his last action photo.
Played on Oct 29, 1969 at Pittsburgh, with the Rangers winning 3-1.
Review some game research below.
Materials and images used in research are for review only, and NOT included with the item for sale in this listing.
Others in the photo: Penguins #10 McCreary, #19 Pronovost, Rangers #6 Hamilton, Referee Ashley.
The scene shows Sawchuk making a save, and you can see the puck resting on his left pad.
Looks like Pronovost may have flipped a shot toward Sawchuk, or could have been
a shot from the point by "Bugsy" Watson.
We used to take photos at the Pittsburgh Penguin games, and then occasionally have
them autographed during the pre-game warmups.
As you can see, this photo was autographed by Keith McCreary several years ago.
I always appreciate input, but THIS IS NOT Ranger goalie Gilles Villemure.
Sawchuk and Villemure both wore #30, I know.
Villemure was not on the Rangers team this season, but Al Hamilton (#6) was.
Sawchuk is even pictured in the news clipping, and mentioned in the sub-headline.
Additionally, Penguins rookie Michel Briere is also in the photo clipping,
and we all know he only played one season, 69-70.
(Interesting to note that Sawchuk stopped Briere on a breakaway in this game).
This photo has a couple of minor wrinkles and a scuff mark on the right border.
I also see a couple of pinholes.
The photo is NOT a reprint, photo copy, or other digital image.
This is an original photo and measures 5-1/2 x 3-7/8
It was originally glued to a poster board way back when, so there is paper on the reverse side.
Also has some game notes back there too.
