Original 1828 shipping receipt from the Union Canal Basin, Middletown PA.

One of the earliest paper items available concerning the Union Canal.

Load of lumber was shipped by well known citizen Christian Spayd on Oct 18, 1828,

on board the "Eclipse" by Captain Heckman, to it's destination of Lebanon PA.

The reverse side has the filing notations of "Georg Schultze" and the Captain's name.

Christian Spayd had his hands in everything in Middletown, Dauphin County.

Banking, politics, building, shipping, etc.  He was even involved with the Union Canal.

We are thinking this shipment initiated from the "slab mill" (saw mill) he built earlier.

Review a little research below in reference to Spayd and Union Canal.

Research not included with sale of the document.
